01What a website builder is

What a website builder is

A website builder, also called a website maker, is a subscription service such as Wix, Squarespace, Hostinger Website Builder or Shopify. You pick a template, drag in your content and publish. The platform hosts the site, and you pay every month or year for as long as it stays online.

A web designer builds a website for your business specifically: the structure, the design, the content and the code. You pay for the build once, then for hosting and any changes.

05The middle path

The middle path

Plenty of good businesses start on a builder and move to a custom website once they grow. If your site is on Wix, Squarespace or WordPress today, a redesign can move your content across and keep your Google rankings with proper redirects.

06Questions

Questions people actually ask

01What is the best website maker in India?

For a do-it-yourself site, the common choices are Wix, Hostinger Website Builder and Squarespace, and Shopify for online stores. For a business that needs to stand out, rank and turn visitors into customers, a custom website built by a web designer is usually the better long-term investment.

02Is Wix good for SEO?

Wix covers the SEO basics, and Wix sites can rank. The limits are page weight and control over how pages are built, which matter more in competitive searches.

03Can you move my website from Wix or WordPress?

Yes. The content is moved across, old addresses are redirected so rankings are kept, and the new site is built to be faster.

04Is a custom website more expensive than a builder?

It costs more to start, because it is built for you. Builders charge a subscription every month for as long as the site is online, plus apps and transaction fees, so over a few years the gap is often smaller than it looks.

05Can I edit a custom website myself?

Yes, where that is part of the brief. Content that changes often gets an admin panel; content that changes twice a year does not need one.
