ShadowChat

A personal experiment.
Encrypted chat where messages self-destruct.
ShadowChat is a private chat that leaves nothing behind. You open a room, share its link, and everyone who joins talks in real time. Messages are encrypted in the browser, and a single “Burn Chat” button wipes the room and its messages when you are done.
Rooms are temporary on purpose: the link expires on its own, so a conversation does not stay on any server longer than it has to.
- 01
Create a room
The server creates a temporary room and gives you a link to share.
- 02
Chat in real time
Everyone who opens the link joins over a WebSocket connection, so messages appear instantly without refreshing.
- 03
Encrypted in the browser
Messages are encrypted on each person’s device before they are sent, so what passes through the server is not readable text.
- 04
Burn it
“Burn Chat” wipes the room and its messages. If nobody does, the room expires by itself.
A personal privacy experiment, not an audited secure messenger. For anything sensitive, use an established, independently reviewed app.
