AuraAI
A personal experiment.
An AI assistant invisible to screen recordings.
Aura is a floating AI assistant that sits on top of your other windows as a see-through overlay. It listens through the microphone, turns what it hears into text, and drafts a suggested answer to the question it detected. You can also type a question yourself.
Its main technical idea is the window itself: the overlay is excluded from screen capture and hidden from the taskbar, so it does not show up in screen recordings or screen shares. It runs on free tools and needs no API key.
- 01
Listen and transcribe
Speech recognition in Chrome converts the spoken question to text in real time.
- 02
Ask the AI
The question goes to a local model through Ollama, which runs entirely on your own machine, or to the free Pollinations.ai service as a fallback.
- 03
Read the draft answer
A suggested answer appears in the overlay, which stays on top of other windows.
- 04
Control it from the keyboard
Shortcuts show or hide the overlay, start or stop listening, request an answer and clear the screen without touching the mouse.
Check the rules of any interview, exam or meeting before using an assistant like this.
